    1/2 cup  soft shortening
    2 tablespoon  sugar
    1  egg
    1 cup  dark molasses
    1 cup  boiling water
    2 1/4 cup  flour
    1 teaspoon  baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon  salt
    1 teaspoon  ginger
    1 teaspoon  cinnamon
Mix together shortening, sugar, and egg. Blend in molasses and boiling water. Blend dry ingredients together. Add to wet ingredients. Beat together all until smooth. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 inch pan for 45-50 minutes. Topping
    1 cup  sifted powdered sugar
    1 tablespoon  milk

Spread over hot gingerbread. Sprinkle top with brown sugar. Serve warm.
