Chocolate Mousse (Mousse au chocolat)

1/4 lb. | bitter or semisweet chocolate |
4 | egg yolks |
4 | egg whites |
4 tablespoons | butter, softened |
2 tablespoons | Grand Marnier |
Break chocolate into small pieces and put onto a plate. Cover with another plate. Put the plates over a saucepan of simmering water and leave for 10 minutes until the chocolate has melted. Beat the egg yolks in a mixer until they are very thick. Fold in the butter, orange liquer and melted chocolate. Beat the egg whites until they stand in soft peaks. Fold chocolate mixture into the egg whites with a wooden spoon. Divide mixture between six small dishes. Chill four hours before serving.
