Raisin Spice Cake

| 2 cups | raisins |
| 1 tblsp | soda |
| 1/2 cup | shortening |
| 2 cups | sugar |
| 1 tsp | cinnamon |
| 1 tsp | cloves |
| 1 tsp | nutmeg |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 1 cup | cold water |
| 4 cup | flour |
| 1 tsp | soda |
| 1 cup | nuts |
Boil raisins in water for 15 minutes, having 2 cups juice when done. Add soda and cool.
Add the remaining ingredients, and mix. Bake 1 hour 350 F until done.
