100g | dhal |
1 | onion |
2 | garlic cloves |
2 | green chillies |
1 teaspoon | chilli powder |
1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
1 teaspoon | turmeric |
1 | Knorr Chicken Cube |
1 tablespoon | Astra |
1 cup | scraped coconut |

METHOD
Add dhal, chilli powder and turmeric into a pot. Add water and boil it till dhal cooks.
When water evaporates, add the Knorr Chicken Cube and mix well.
Pound together mustard seeds, onion, garlic and green chilli. Add scraped coconut and pound again to mix well.
In a pan, melt Astra and add rampe, curry leaves and the pounded mixture.
When the coconut gets tempered, add the dhal and mix well.
Chef’s Tip:
Do not over-boil the dhal as it will turn into a mash when combining with the pounded mixture, resulting in the wrong texture.
