1/2 cup | warm water |
2 tablespoons | yeast |
1 tsp | sugar |
honey, alternative | |
1 1/2 cup | warm water |
1/3 cup | melted sweet butter |
oil, alternative | |
2/3 cup | honey |
2 tsp | salt |
6 cups | unbleached white flour |
1 cup | cornmeal, (stonegroud preferably) |
1/4 cup | wheat germ |
Proof yeast with sugar or honey.
Mix together 3 cups of flour, 1 1/2 cup warm water, oil or butter, honey and salt beat 2 minutes or 200 strokes.
Gradually add remaning flour, dough will be sticky.
Rise until double, knead a few minutes. Rest 10 minutes. Shape 2 9" loaves. Bake 375 F 30-35 minutes.
