Chocolate Thumbprints

1/2 cup | butter. Filling, 1/2 cup powered sugar |
2/3 cup | sugar. 1 TBS softened butter |
1 | egg, (separated). 2 tsp milk |
2 TBS | milk. 1/4 tsp vanilla |
1 tsp | vanilla. 26 chocolate kisses |
1 cup | flour |
1/3 cup | baking cocoa |
1/4 tsp | salt |
1 cup | finely chopped nuts |
Add to mixing bowl butter,sugar,egg yolk, milk & vanilla. Beat until creamy. Combine flour, cocoa & salt; gradually add this to creamy mixture. Cover & chill for 1 hr. Shape into small round balls, roll in egg whites then roll in nuts.
Place them on a greased cookie sheet, make thumb indents in the center of each cookie. Bake @ 350* for 10-12 min. Let cool. Mix together all the filling ingredients together. Add little drop of filling into each center of the cookies. Top with chocolate kiss. This cookie can be doubled. Yields: 2 dozen
