| 1/2 cup | butter |
| 1 | egg |
| 1 1/2 tsp. | vanilla |
| 1/4 tsp. | salt |
| 3/4 cup | sugar |
| 1 1/2 cups | flour |
| 1 tsp. | baking powder |
Red food colouring
1. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat. Add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients. Add to butter and egg mixture. Color half the dough red. Chill for 1/2 an hour. Roll pieces the size of a walnut into rolls about 3 inch long. Place 1 of each color side by side and roll together. Shape into canes and bake on greased sheet for 8 min at 350 f.
