Note: if you can't find a sponge cake and don't want to bake one, use the little round, indented cups for strawberry shortcake. It takes 10 little cups to make 6 cups of cubed sponge cake. | |

1 c | strong brewed coffee, cooled to room temp |
16 oz (6c) | cool whip |
1/4 c | coffee liqueur, (Starbucks Cappuccino) |
2 TBL (1/3 c) | chocolate liqueur, (Godiva) |
2 - 6 oz containers | chocolate yogurt, ( can use vanilla yogurt and mix with 1/8 c chocolate syrup) |
3/4 c | mini choc chips |
3/4 c | chopped pecans |
Cut sponge cake into cubes about size of cheese cubes. Place cubes in a bowl and add strong coffee. Toss cake around a little so they are all soaked in coffee. Combine dairy topping, yogurt, and liqueurs in a small bowl. Set aside. In another small bowl, toss chocolate chips and pecans, set aside. Use a pretty bowl that will hold 12 cups. Place a third of coffee soaked cubes into bottom of bowl. Top with a third of whipped topping. Sprinkle a third of the chip and nut mixture over that. Repeat these layers two more times, ending with last of nuts and chips.
Top with chocolate curls by running blade of sharp knife down side of thick chocolate bar. Or you can use berries or even mini choc chips for decoration.
Chill for 3 hours. Serves 12.
