Black Eyed Peas

2 lb | dried black eyed peas |
1 | ham hock, large |
6 c | water |
1 | onion, large, chopped |
1/2 tsp | crushed red pepper |
1/4 tsp | sugar |
2 | bay leaves |
salt | |
white rice |
Directions:
1. Sort peas and rinse well, then soak in cold water for a few hours. Drain.
2. Place all ingredients in crock pot and cook on low 6-8 hrs. Serve with hot rice
