Mom's Strawberry Cake

1 box | white cake mix |
3/4 cup | canola oil |
4 | eggs |
1 package | strawberry jello |
1/4 very hot water | |
1 box | fresh strawberries, washed & chopped in small pieces |
1 Tbsp | vanilla |
FROSTING: | |
3/4 | butter |
1 box | powdered sugar |
Mix the cake mix, oil & eggs with an electric mixer. Dissolve the jello with the hot water & blend into cake mix. Add vanilla & 3/4 of the strawberries. Pour into 1 large rectangular or 3 small 8 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 45 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
To Make Frosting:
Mix the rest of the strawberries with the softened butter & powdered sugar until a consistency for frosting is reached.
