    190g  oat bran, 1-1/2 cups, scant (6.75 oz.)
    125g  oat flour, 1-1/4 cups
    85g  instant oats, 1 cup
    25g  oats (non-instant), 1/4 cup
    1.5g  salt, 1/4 tsp
    165g  unsalted butter, 5 oz. (1/2 cup + 3 tbsp.)
    140g  brown sugar, 5 oz. (2/3 cup packed)
    1 tsp.  corn syrup, (optional, but keeps the sugar from crystallizing)
    1 tsp  water
    .5 teaspoon  vanilla


1. Preheat oven, 325ºF
2. Mix oats and salt together in a medium sized bowl.
3. Put sugar and water into small pot; melt into a syrup over low heat. (There should be no sugar crystals left.) Add vanilla. Melt butter into syrup, stirring constantly.
4. Add the syrup to the oats, stirring till evenly coated. Let mixture rest for a half hour to allow the syrup to be absorbed, stirring occasionally.
5. Press into an 8x8" pan and let set.
6. Cover with tin foil and bake for 10 minutes.
7. Once cool, using a sharp knife cut into bars 4x2".

Variations: Add apricot pieces and almond slivers, or chocolate chips, or dried cherries or blueberries, or raisins and cinnamon. (Drizzle with melted chocolate or white chocolate.)
