To successfully duplicate this prize winning bake off contest recipe from Pillsbury best of the bake off cookbook recipe, use the amount of nuts called for. Note, too, that this cake has a soft fudge filling, so an ordinary doneness test won't work;;;;;; For the cake:
    1-3/4 cups  sugar
    1-3/4 cups  margarine, softened
      butter, alternative
    6  eggs
    2 cups  confectioners sugar
    2-1/4 cups  all purpose flour
    3/4 cup  unsweetened cocoa
    2 cups  chopped walnuts
For the glaze:
    3/4 cup  confectioners sugar
    1/4 cup  unsweetened cocoa
    4 to 6 teaspoons  milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 12 cup bunt pan or a 10 inch tube pan.
In a large bowl, combine sugar and margarine: beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, bearing well after each addition. Gradually add 2 cups
Confectioners sugar ; blend well. By hand, stir in flour and remaining cake ingredients until well blended . Spoon attract into pan: spread evenly. Bake for 58 to 62 minutes. Cool upright in pan on wire rack 1 hour; invert onto serving plate. Cool completely.
In a small bowl, combine glaze ingredients, adding enough milk for Desiree drizzling consistency. Spoon over top of cake, allowing some to run down sides. Store tightly covered.
