    1 cup  white sugar
    ¾ cup  shortening
    4 Tbsp  molasses
    1  egg
    1 tsp  salt
    2 cups  flour
    3 tsp  baking soda
    1 tsp  cinnamon
    ½ tsp  cloves
    1 tsp  ginger

Directions:

Sift together salt, flour, soda and spices.
Cream sugar and shortening.
Add molasses and egg.
Add flour to creamed mixture.
Roll in balls, then sugar.
Bake at 350 – 375 for 7 – 10 minutes.
