    1 bag  red beans, (if you can’t get red beans, use kidney beans
      onion, chopped
      garlic, minced
      bay leaves
      carrots, sliced
      ham, cubed
      water
      rice, cooked

rinse beans and put them in a large pot with onion, garlic, bay leaves, carrots, and ham. Add water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, and cook a long time. All day in crock pot or 2-3 hours on the stove.

Serve over rice.
