    1 pound  small whole mushrooms
      Marinade
    1 cup  chicken broth
    1 cup  dry white wine
    2 tablespoons  fresh lemon juice
    1/4 cup  white vinegar
    1/4 cup  vegetable oil
    1 stalk  celery
    1 clove  garlic, peeled
    1/4 teaspoon  rosemary
    1/4 teaspoon  marjoram
    1/4 teaspoon  thyme
    1/8 teaspoon  oregano
    1  bay leaf
    4  peppercorns
    1/2 teaspoon  salt

Combine all ingredients except mushrooms in a 2-quart saucepan; bring to a boil. Simmer gently 30 minutes. Strain marinade, pressing juice from vegetables. Return to saucepan. Add mushrooms; simmer for 5 minutes. Coll to room temperature, ten chill at least 4 ours, preferably overnight. Makes 4 servings.
