Hearty Chicken & Pasta Chowder

1/2 pkg (8 oz) | small shells pasta, uncooked |
4 slices | bacon |
1 lb | boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces |
1/2 cup | chopped onion |
2 T | flour |
5 cups | milk |
4 tsp | chicken bouillon |
1 tsp | dried basil |
1/4 tsp | pepper |
1 (11 oz) can | corn, drained |
Cook pasta according to pkg directions. Cook bacon in large saucepan until crisp. Remove bacon, crumble, and set aside. Reserve 3 T. bacon drippings in pan. In same saucepan, add chicken and onion; cook and stir until chicken is tender. stir in flour until smooth. Gradually stir in milk then bouillon, basil and pepper. Cook and stir until slightly thickened and bubbly. Stir in pasta, corn and bacon; heat through. Serve immediately. Makes 6-8 servings.
