    5 lbs (~6 large)  potatoes, pared and cut into bite-sized pieces
    2  onions, chopped
    13 ounce can  evaporated milk
    1 Tbsp  parsley flakes
    7 cups  water
    1.5 tsp  salt
      Pepper, to taste
    2 Tbsp  butter
    7  chicken bouillon cubes
      Bacon
      Shredded cheese
      Sour cream
      Green onions

Put all ingredients except evaporated milk and toppings (cheese, bacon, sour cream) into crock pot or pot on stove.

For crock pot, cover and cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 3 hours. Stir in evaporated milk during last hour.

For stovetop, bring to a boil and then simmer for approximately 30 minutes. stir in evaporated milk and cook for an additional approximately 10 minutes.

If desired, top with bacon, shredded cheese, and sour cream.
