Beef Stew

    2  lbs beef stew meat
¼ C soy sauce
½ tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp  onion powder
½ tsp pepper
½ tsp salt
    1 C  flour
    1  pkt McCormick Au Jus Gravy Mix
    4  -6 large carrots, peeled and cut in 4, 6 chunks
    3  -4 large potatoes, quartered but not peeled
    1 large  onion, peeled and cut in chunks
¼-½ C red wine

Put the stew meat in a gallon sized zip lock bag. Add seasoning to soy sauce and pour over meat in the bag. Squeeze out the air and seal. Squish until meat is uniformly seasoned. Add flour to the meat mixture and squish until meat is evenly coated.
Brown meat in a large frying pan in bacon grease or oil doing about a fourth at a time.
While meat is browning, prepare potatoes, carrots and onions. Put carrots and potatoes in a Dutch Oven. Add the Au Jus Mix. As each batch of the meat finishes browning add it to the Dutch oven. Sauté onions in the Dutch oven in more grease/oil and then add to the Dutch oven. Deglaze pan with wine and add to Dutch oven. Mix all and add enough water to nearly cover. Turn heat very, very low and let simmer until done, about 2-3 hours.
