| 1 cup | shortening, (butter) |
| 2 cup | sugar |
| 2 teaspoons | vanilla |
| 4 | eggs |
| 4 cups | sifted flour, (gold metal) |
| 4 teaspoons | baking soda |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 2 teaspoons | cinnamon |
| 1 teaspoon | nutmeg |
| 1 teaspoon | cloves |
| 2 6oz package | pitted dates, (dole) |
| 1 cup | chopped walnuts |
Mix together butter,sugar, and vanilla add eggs beating well
Put all dry ingredients together with sifted flour then add the wet mix and nuts and dates
Make into cookie shapes bake at 375 for 15 mins or until lightly brown
While warm sift sugar onto the cookies
