Waikiki Meatballs

1 1/2 lbs | ground turkey |
2/3 cups | bread crumbs |
1/3 cup | minced onion |
1 | egg |
1 1/2 tsp | salt |
1/4 tsp | Ginger |
1/4 cup | milk |
1 tbsp | shortening |
2 tbsp | cornstarch |
1/2 cup pack | brown sugar |
1 can (13 oz) | pineapple tidbits |
1/3 cup | vinegar |
1 tbsp | soy sauce |
1/3 cup | chopped green pepper |
Mix: turkey, bread, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, Ginger, and milk. Melt shortening into large skillet. Shape mixture into balls and brown and cook. Pour fat from skillet, remove balls from skillet and keep them warm.
Mix cornstarch and sugar, stir in pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce until smooth. Pour into skillet. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Add meatballs, pineapple tidbits and green pepper. Heat thoroughly. Serve over rice.
