Viennese Beef Goulash

1 1/2 lbs | beef stew meat |
2 medium | onions, chopped |
4 tablespoons | butter |
1-2 | teaspoons caraway seeds |
1/2 teaspoon | marjoram |
2 cloves | garlic, minced |
1 can | beer |
1 cup | water |
1-2 teaspoons | salt |
6 medium | potatoes, pared and quatered |
3 tablespoons | paprika |
4 tablespoons | ketchup |
3 | hard boiled eggs, sliced |
Sour cream |
Brown onion and garlic in butter, add beef. Add caraway, marjoram, beer and water, simmer 45 minutes. Add potatoes and salt and simmer another 30 minutes.
Mix together paprika and ketchup and add to beef. Cook 10 minutes further. Serve garnished with sliced egg and sour cream.
