Red Beans and Rice

1 lb | red beans |
2 lbs | ground meat |
3 large | onions |
1 lb | hot pork sausage |
1 large | bell pepper |
1 clove | garlic |
1 (6 oz) can | tomato paste |
2 T | barbecue sauce |
1 T | chili powder |
1 T | sugar |
Pinch | oregano leaves |
Put on red beans and hot sausage to cook.
Brown ground meat; drain off most of the grease. Take meat up; sauté chopped onions, garlic and pepper on grease. Put meat back in. Add tomato paste and enough water to thin mixture. Add sugar, oregano, chili powder, barbecue sauce, salt & pepper to taste. Cook 10-15 minutes. Add to already boiling red beans and hot sausage. Cook until thick, 2-3 hrs. Serve over rice.
