Easy Penuche Frosting

1/2 cup | butter |
1 cup | brown sugar |
1/4 cup | milk |
1 1/4 - 2 cups | sifted confectioner's sugar |
Melt butter in saucepan. Add brown sugar and cook over low heat for 2 minutes stirring constantly.
Stir in 1/4 cup of milk. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, set pan in cold water. When you can hold your hand on the bottom of the pan the syrup is cool enough.
Blend in 1 1/4 - 2 cups of sifted powdered sugar. Put pan in ice water and beat frosting until thick enough to spread. Add a few drops of hot water if it is too thick.
