4 medium | apples, peeled, cut into fourths |
1/2 cup | water |
1/2 cup | brown sugar, or 1/3 - 1/2 cup white sugar |
1/4 t. | cinnamon |
1/8 t. | nutmeg |
1 pinch | salt |
1. Heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat.
2. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally to break up apples, until tender, 5 - 10 minutes.
3. Stir in sugar and spices.
4. Heat to boiling; boil and stir for 1 minute.
