Gingerbread Waffles

    1 1/2 cup  flour
    1 tsp  baking powder
    1 tsp  baking soda
    1/2 tsp  salt
    1 tsp  ground ginger
    1/4 cup  sugar
    3  eggs, beaten
    1 cup  buttermilk
    1/2 cup  molasses
    1/3 cup  shortening, melted

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger and sugar. Combine eggs, buttermilk, molasses, and melted shortening, stirring well; add to flour mixture, stirring until blended.
Bake in preheated oiled waffle iron. Serve with butter and syrup. Yield 14 (4 inch) waffles.
