Syrup— | |
1 c | brown sugar |
1 c | water |
1 T | butter |
Batter— | |
1/2 c | brown sugar |
1/2 c | milk |
1 c | flour |
1 c | chopped dates |
1/2 c | chopped nuts |
2 tsp | baking powder |
1/4 tsp | salt |
Combine 1 c brown sugar& water
Cook together 3 minutes & make syrup
Remove from heat & add butter
Batter—
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder & salt
Add mill and stir til smooth
Fold in chopped nuts & dates
Blending well into the mixture
Pour hot syrup in greased baking dish
Pour batter atop hot syrup & bake 350 for 35-40 minutes
Serve with whipped cream
