2 large (32 oz) | cans of tomato purée |
4 small (6 oz) | or 2 large, (12 oz) cans tomato sauce |
2 small (6 oz) | cans tomato paste |
2 medium | onions, chopped fine |
3-4 gloves garlic, minced fine | |
2 lbs | ground beef, (80/20 mix) |
Olive oil to cover bottom of pan | |
Salt | |
Pepper | |
Oregano | |
Parsley | |

Heat oil and add onion for about 10 minutes. Crumble chop meat and add to pan, breaking up the chunks as it cooks. When the meat is almost all brown, add the garlic, salt and pepper. Continue to cook until the meat is no longer red and is broken up.
Add the purée, tomato sauce, oregano, parsley, sugar and more salt and pepper. Cook for about an hour, then stir in the tomato paste cook for about an hour more.
