Basic Vinegar Sauce

    2 C  cider vinegar
    1 C  ketchup
    1/2 C  hot sauce, (Franks)
    2 T  salt
    2 T  black pepper
    1 T  crushed red pepper flakes
    1/2 C  sugar
    6-8 drops  Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp  liquid smoke, (hickory) - optional

Combine vinegar, ketchup, and hot sauce in pot over medium heat.

Pour in remaining ingredients and stir until dissolved. Do not boil.

This sauce can be a bit spicy. Reduce hot sauce to 1/4 C and omit pepper flakes if serving to people that don?t like a lot of heat.
