Copycat Cheryl & Co. Buttery Sugar Cookies These tasty little cookies melt in your mouth. They taste just like the Cheryl & Co. sugar cutouts. | |
INGREDIENTS | |
1 cup | butter, softened (or use margarine as alternative) |
3/4 cup | sugar |
1 | egg |
1/2 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
2 1/2 cups | all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon | baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon | salt |
FROSTING (adapted) | |
1/2 cup | butter, softened |
2 cups | confectioners' sugar |
1.5 teaspoons | vanilla extract |
1 T. | milk |
desired food coloring
DIRECTIONS
In mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add egg, vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Roll out onto lightly floured surface and cut; place cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until set, not brown (this part is important! DO NOT OVER COOK!). Cool on wire racks.
Beat together butter, vanilla and 1 cup powdered sugar in mixing bowl. Add milk. Continue adding sugar in 1/2 cup increments until desired consistency is reached. Add food coloring to all or a portion of frosting and frost cookies. Enjoy!
