The Chew- Guest Recipe - Winner Creamy Bacon Cornbread ><
    1 box  cornbread mix
    1  egg
    1/3 cup  vegetable oil
    1 cup  milk
    1 tablespoon  maple syrup, (plus 1/2 cup for topping)
    1/2 teaspoon  vanilla extract
    1/2 pound  honey maple bacon, (diced)
    8 ounces  cream cheese, (diced)
    4 tablespoon  unsalted butter

Preheat Oven to 400ºF. Grease a standard sized loaf pan with low-calorie butter spray.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cornbread mix, egg, oil, milk, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and vanilla extract. When combined, set aside.
Add the bacon to a nonstick pan over medium heat. Cook until bacon is crisp.
Pour the bacon, including the bacon fat, into the cornbread batter and stir to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and place in the oven.
Bake for 5 minutes, then remove from oven and evenly dollop cream cheese on top. Place back in the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Use toothpick to test if it is done.
Meanwhile, melt the butter and maple syrup together in a saucepan.
To serve, slice cornbread and top with the warm butter-maple syrup mixture. Serve cornbread alongside BBQ fried chicken.
