Christmas Cinnamon Red Hots By Andrea Dumasius Now that Natalie has youngsters, I thought about sharing a VERY SIMPLE Christmas recipe I picked up when our eldest daughter was 3 years old..Our daughter, Alana Marie, is now turning 28 on Dec. 26, and she still looks forward to my making this very simple recipe every Christmas.....partly for nostalgic purposes, but partly because it's so pretty at Christmas time! Very easy....here goes: | |
1 50 oz. jar | unsweetened applesauce |
1/2 lb. | cinnamon red hots, (candies) You can even use less candies |
The more candies, then the - REDDER the finished product looks, which is so Holiday-ish!! But it's also a bit spicier....so for little ones, you may want to put in a little less than 1/2 lb.
- Heat on medium heat until red hots melt....the red coating melts first, the candies themselves take a wee bit longer to melt down....stir now and then so they don't stick on the bottom of the pot!....serve either warm or cold....(if you process this in jelly jars, it makes nice Holiday Gifts!)
