4 tsp | baking soda |
2 cups | boiling water |
2 cups | dark raisins |
4 cups | flour |
2 cups | sugar, (1 1/2 may be better) |
1/2 tsp | salt |
4 tbsp | oil |
Mix baking soda & water. In large bowl pour water& soda over raisins & let stand overnight without stirring. Seft flour, sugar, salt & stir in raisins with spoon. Add oil & mix well. Grease & flour 3 1lb coffee cans, divide batter equally. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour & 325 degrees for another 1/2 hour. Cover tops with foil if burning. Lay cans on side & roll to loosen. Cool on racks and remove.
