| 1 cup | brown sugar |
| 1 cup | shortening, (part butter) |
| 2 | eggs |
| 1 teaspoon | baking soda |
| 1 teaspoon | vanilla |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 2 1/2 cups | flour |
| 1/2 cup | chopped nuts |
| 2 packages | chocolate chips |
Mix sugar and shortening till smooth, beat in eggs and add baking soda which has been dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water. Sift flour and salt together
And add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla and fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
