Portuguese chourico and kale soup

2 T | olive oil |
3 medium | potatoes |
2 medium | onions |
4-6 cloves | garlic |
2 | bay leaves |
1 pound | kale |
1 can | chick peas |
1 can | diced tomatoes |
1 pound | ground chourico |
1 1/2 quarts | chicken broth |
1 quart | water |
Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Add potatoes and onions, cover and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add garlic, bay leaves and kale. Cover and wilt greens 2 minutes.
Add beans, tomatoes, chourico, broth and water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and cook until potatoes are tender
