Red Velvet Cake

8 oz | unsalted butter |
2 cups | sugar |
1 oz bottle | red food coloring |
2 t | warm water |
3 T | cocoa powder |
1 t | salt |
3 | eggs |
1 cup | buttermilk |
2 t | vinegar |
1 T | vanilla extract |
2.5 cups | flour |
1 t | baking powder |
1 t | baking soda |
Preheat oven to 350. Mix flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder in a bowl and set aside. In a small bowl, make a paste of the food coloring, cocoa, and water. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (5 min). Add vanilla, vinegar, and cocoa powder paste until well blended. Add eggs one at a time beating well. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, with mixer on low until just combined. Don't overmix. Pour into pan and bake for 15-20 min.
Frosting:
Beat 1 cube butter, 1 pkg cream cheese (8 oz), I box powdered sugar, 2 t vanilla.
