Mashed Potatoes

    3 pounds  potatoes, preferably Yukon or red, rinsed and cut into bite-size pieces
    1/2 cup  whole buttermilk
    1/4 cup  whole milk
    1/2 cup  unsalted butter
    1 heaping tablespoon  sour cream
      Sea salt
      freshly ground black pepper

Place potatoes in a large pot and add water to cover the potatoes by 1 inch. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are fork tender, about 15 minutes. Drain.

While potatoes are cooking, heat buttermilk, milk, and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat until butter is melted. Remove butter mixture from heat.

Place potatoes back into pot and pour in milk mixture. Mash with a potato masher, stir in sour cream, and season generously with salt and pepper.
