French Toast - Creme Brule style

1 stick | butter |
1 c. | packed brown sugar |
2 tbsp. | corn syrup |
5 large | eggs |
1-1/2 c. | half and half |
1 tsp. | vanilla |
1/4 tsp. | salt |
1 baguette style bread or french loaf
Syrup Directions:
- mix 4 parts syrup with 1 part sweetened condensed milk over low heat and stir until smooth
Directions:
- in saucepan melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup, stir until smooth
- pour into 13x9 pan
- cut 1" thick slices of bread and layer in baking dish
- in a bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla, and salt and pour over bread
- chill at least 8 hours
- preheat oven to 350 while french toast is on the counter
- bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes
