Layered Taco Casserole

1 lb. | Ground beef |

3/4 cup | water |
1 package | McCormick original taco seasoning, (1.25oz.) |
1tsp | garlic powder, (up to 3 tsp) |
2 cups | Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded |
1 cup | onion, chopped |
sliced green onion, alternative | |
4 Tbsp | Sour Cream, (optional) |
2 cups | cottage cheese |
Directions
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.) Lightly coat a 13x9x2 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
3.) In a large skillet cook meat until brown. Drain fat. Stir in water, taco seasoning and garlic powder. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 5 minutes or to desired consistency; set aside.
4.) In mixing bowl combine cottage cheese, cheddar cheese and onion.
5.) Place 6 tortillas in prepare pan. Top with half of the meat and dollop with half of the cheese mixture.
6.) Repeat layers.
7.) Bake, uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until heated through.
8.) Top with lettuce and tomatoes. Serve with sour cream, if desired.
