French Onion Soup

Ingredients:
6 Large Onions, thinly sliced
1/4 Cup Butter
2 Tins Consomme Soup to 2 Cans Water
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Croutons
1/2 Lb. Swiss Gruyere Cheese, grated
1 T. Sherry
Dash Tabasco Sauce
Method:
Saute onions slowly in butter. Add 1/4-1/2 cup water. Saute (not brown) for
one hour. Put onions in the bottom of onion soup bowls. Heat soup until hot.
Add to onions. Add salt and pepper, sherry and tobasco sauce. Fill
soup bowls 2/3 full. Add croutons and grated cheese.
Put under the broiler and broil until bubbly and the cheese has melted.
