2 c. | flour |
1/2 Tbsp. | sugar |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1/2 c | butter |
1 | egg yolk |
1/4 c | lukewarm water |
1 tsp. | sugar |
1 pkg. | yeast |
1/2 c. | milk |
Sift flour, sugar & salt in bowl. Cut in butter.
Dissolve 1 tsp. sugar in water. Sprinkle in yeast. Let stand.
Scald milk, cool to lukewarm. When cool,, blend in egg yolk
Stir yeast & add to milk mixture. Blend.
Add all to dry mix all at once. Stir till well blended.
Cover bowl with wax paper and cloth. Chill 2 hours.
Roll dough 1/3" thick. cut in strips 6 - 8" long. Twist from centre and coil to end.
Bake 15 - 20 min. @ 375 deg. F. on an ungreased pan. Ice while warm with icing sugar and water. Sprinkle with nuts.
