Arrange 12(3/4 thick) slices French or challah bread in a buttered 9 x 13" baking dish. In a large bowl beat 6 eggs,
    1 1/4 cups  milk
    1/4 cup  half & half
    1/4 cup  sugar
    2 tablespoons  maple syrup
    1 1/2 teaspoon  vanilla extract
    1/4 teaspoon  salt

Pour over bread, refrigerate and cover overnight. Turn slices over once or twice to be sure they are evenly coated with egg mixture. In the morning,bake in a preheated oven at 400 for 15 min. Turn over and bake for 20 min more or until golden brown.
