1 large | onion |
1 tbsp | vegetable oil |
1 lb | ground beef |
1 tsp. | salt |
1 tsp. | curry powder |
1/2 tsp. | thyme |
1/2 tsp. | pepper |
7 tbsp. | bread crumbs |
1 cup | water |

2 cups | flour |
2 tsp. | baking powder |
1 tsp. | curry powder |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1/2 tsp. | turmeric |
2/3 cup | shortening |
3 1/2 tbsp. | butter |
1/2 cup | cold water |
1. Finely chop onion. Fry in frying pan with meat and oil. Cook over med heat til meat is brown.
2. Add salt, curry powder, thyme and pepper. Cook for 1 min. Add bread crumbs and stir and add water. Cook on low for 2 more min. Set aside.
3. Measure flour, baking powder, curry powder, salt and turmeric.
4. Add shortening and butter cut into like pastry.
5. Add cold water stirring with fork until you have a ball of dough. Divide into 16 equal portions and set aside.
6. Set oven at 180 c.
7. Sprinkle flour on board roll out one portion about 6 inch in diameter.
8. Spoon abut 3 tbsp of filling. Dip finger in water and moisten edges of dough. Fold circle in half and press edges together like a fork.
9. Prick through with fork. Continue with the rest.
10. Bake for 25 to 30 min until browned. Serve hot or cold
