2 cups | flour |
2 tbsp. | sugar |
3 tsp. | baking powder |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1/3 cup | butter |
1 | egg beaten |
3/4 cup | milk, approx |
1. Preheat oven to 425 f.
2. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
3. Chop in butter.
4. Add egg and most of milk. Stir quickly and lightly until no flour shows. Add more milk if needed.
5. Turn dough out on floured board and knead about 15 times. Cut dough in half. Make 2 circles and cut each into 8 wedges like a pie.
6. Place on greased sheet. Bake till golden about 12 min.
Note: scones can also be cut into 2 inch rounds or squares
