      Chocolate Cake
    2 c.  Sifted cake flour
3 teas. Baking powder 1/4 teas. Salt 1/2 teas. Baking soda
    1/2 c.  Butter
      shortening, alternative
    1 c.  Sugar
    2  eggs, separated
    3 oz (3 squares)  melted chocolate, ( one square of chocolate to 3 tab. Coco)
    1 1/4 c.  Milk

1 teas. Vanilla

Sifted together flour once before mourning. Then fit 3 times with baking powder, salt, and soda. Cream butter until soft and smooth. Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add milk alternately with dry ind. beating until smooth after each addition. Continue beating for two minutes about (300 strokes) fold in flavoring and stiffy beaten egg whites. Turn into lightly grease pans ( inch pan) . Bake at 375 degrees
