English Toffee - Sandy's Recipe

2 sticks | butter |
1 cup | sugar |
3 tablespoons | water |
3 milk chocolate candy bars | |
½ to 1 cup | pecans, chopped finely |
Melt butter in skillet; add sugar and water. Cook on medium heat constantly stirring. Bring to a boil. Cook about 15 minutes, until caramel brown with a burnt butter smell.
Pour as thinly as possible onto a cookie sheet. Place broken Hershey bars evenly on top of toffee mixture as soon as possible. Sprinkle heavily with nuts and refrigerate until firm. Break into pieces.
