Flour Tortillas

2 cups | flour |
1/2 tsp | salt |
1/4 cup | shortening |
oil, alternative | |
1 tsp | baking powder |
1/2 to 3/4 cup | water |
milk, alternative |
Mix the dry ingredients. Add shortening or oil. Add milk or water and mix with fingers until a sticky ball forms. Wrap in plastic and let rest for 30 min. Divide the dough into 6-10 balls depending on the desired size of tortilla. Cover with a damp cloth.
Roll out each ball to about 1/4" thick tortilla. Cook on a heated dry griddle for about 30 seconds each side.
