Baked Squash and Apples with ginger and pecans

1/4 cup | unsalted butter plus butter for greasing dish |
a 1/4 pouns squash sliced 1/4 inch wedges | |
2 medium | baking apples, granny smith cored and sliced into 1/4 inch wedge |
2 tbs | minced fresh gingerroot |
salt | |
black pepper | |
1/2 tsp. | cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice |
1/3 cup | chopped pecans |
preheat to 350 degrees
lightly butter 2 quart dish and layer squash and apple slices overlapping each other.
Melt butter and ginger season with salt and pepper add pumpkin spice or cinnamon, add 1/2 tsp butter. Pour butter mixture over squash and apples. Cover tightly with foil and bake 15 min. Uncover and back for another 25 min. top with pecans
