Mom's Scrumptious Egg Casserole

Ingredients | |
3 Tbs. | butter, softened |
1 C. | hash browns, cubed or shredded, defrosted |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1/4 tsp. | pepper |
2 C. | shredded cheddar cheese |
8 | eggs |
few dashes | hot sauce, optional |
8 link | sausages, cooked, drained, and sliced |
1/2 C. | whipping cream |
1/2 C. | fat free half and half, alternative |
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread butter in 9-inch glass baking dish. Sprinkle the hash browns and half of the cheese over butter. Season with salt and pepper. Break eggs carefully onto cheese. Pierce yolks with a fork, but don't stir the eggs; leave them separate. Dash with hot sauce, if desired. Place sliced sausages on eggs and pour cream over all. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes,
