1 1/2 cups | sugar |
1 cup | melted Crisco shortening |
3 tablespoons | baking powder |
1/2 bottle | lemon extract |
1/2 bottle | anise extract |
3 - 3 1/2 cups | flour |
Preheat oven to 375-degrees. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Let dough stand for 1/2 hour. Knead dough and shape into 2-inch wide, as long as loaf. Egg wash on top. Bake 15-minutes. Cool completely. Frost and slice loaves into 1-inch thick cookies. FROSTING: | |

2-3 tablespoons | milk,, (or more until right texture) |
1 tablespoon | Crisco shortening |
1-2 teaspoons | lemon extract |
Mix all ingredients until smooth. Frosting should stick to cookies without running down sides.
