1 package | German chocolate cake mix, (Duncan Hines) |
1 1/2 | chopped pecans |
1 1/2 cups | shredded coconut, (I sometimes use more) |
1/2 cup | butter |
1 8 oz. package | cream cheese |
1 box | powdered sugar |
Prepare cake mix accordng to directions. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan. Combine pecans and coconut. Sprinkle in bottom of pan evenly. Pour prepared cake mix over pecan and coconut mixture. Melt butter and cream cheese together in sauce pan. (sometimes I will use a microwavable bowl and put in microwave until very soft, almost pourable)
Add powdered sugar to the butter mixture about a cup at a time and mix well on low to medium speed setting. Mix until pourable. Pour over cake batter. DO NOT STIR IN. (These are layers.) Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until cake tests done. Remove from oven . Cool. Cut into squares. Flavor improves daily.
